We build a fair relationship with the bees and our customers. The bees, not the beekeeper, creates the honey from Nature's bounty; and the beekeeper manages the bees for the mutual profit of bees and beekeeper. Your trade relationship helps me, Jean des Abeilles, to live doing what I love best, communicating with the bees. Each bee yard has honey that is harvested according to the special floral variety it produces. This makes the quality of our product. Peace Gourmet Honey is a small artisanal endeavor and plans to stay so. It is not driven by money, it is driven by exchange and we mean it in the large way. It is common for us to trade honey for lumber, for a delivery service, for a mechanical or plumbing service, for a painting or jewelry from an artist, for organic vegetables, you name it. This way we and our trade partner both win by giving something hand or mind crafted that we appreciate in their unique value. We take also money of course because we have bills to pay. I am hoping someday to trade my gas or utility bill with bee products (Imagine from John Lennon). It may not be always possible because of the distance but I had honey travelling as far as Michigan, Florida or Europe. There is no other limit than our creativity. This small company doesn't exist by itself. We receive help from several friends and partners: our graphic artist for the labels and brochures, Sharon our artist photograph (www.donabona.ca) for the pictures, Carla for printing, Barb for bookkeeping, Hedzer for building the wood wares, Paul for mentoring me with the management of the bees, Zane helping me navigate on the internet, David keeping my beloved 86' Volvo on the road, and the list goes on and on... We are all interconnected, Human within Mother Nature and all her creations. Each of us is a special gift. Be who you are is our journey of discovery.
